Picking motorcycle kit is often a trade-off between costs, looks and performance. But the new AAA-rated Weise Chester textile jacket offers a classic style alongside the high protection. And it’s not ridiculously expensive, either.
The Chester features a tough cotton canvas and Cordura outer shell, with Level 1 RE ZRO armour at the shoulders, elbow and back, notable for being light, flexible and even biodegradable when it comes time to replace it. And it meets the EN17092-2:2020 AAA certification for motorcycle clothing.
But the retro style means you can also get the same protection on a trip to the pub or wandering around town without looking a bit odd. Plus there are three internal pockets, two handwarmer options with a zip, and further zipped chest storage, so you can keep everything handy. The Weise metal badge and use of poppers alongside YKK zippers add to the classic look, as well as allowing you to adjust the cuffs and hem so you don’t get drafts and billowing when riding.
To also keep you warm and dry there’s a waterproor, windproof and breathable Reissa drop liner between the outer shell and textile mesh inner lining.
And you get all that for £279.99, which isn’t bad for a motorcycle jacket to last you through Spring, Smmer, Autumn, and possibly even Winter if your commute isn’t too long. Aside from the name, which isn’t particularly cool (apologies to residents of the cathedral city in Cheshire), it seems like a pretty decent choice.
If you do want something a bit warmer for winter, but want to keep a retro look, we did previously cover the Weise Recon, inspired by the likes of the classic M65 army jacket.
The new Weise Chester textile jacket is available in sizes S-5XL in a choice of Black, Sand or Sage colours from your nearest Weise stockist, which actually includes Halfords. And as always, you can find all of our coverage of motorcycle jackets for men, women and children, here. Along with more of the Weise range.
