Featuring extra-large 3-D mesh panels on the front, rear and each arm, the new Weise Hive Jacket is a good choice for motorcycle riding in warmer weather. And it also has a removable waterproof membrane in case you get caught in a summer rain shower.
The Hive is made from a 600D polyester fabric shell, with 3M reflective details to help you be visible at night. To get a comfortable fit there are sleeve popper adjusters, along with stretch panels in key areas, and a connecting zip if you want to attach it to trousers.
Inside is RE ZRO removable shoulder and elbow armour along with a back protector. It’s lighter and more flexible than comparable impact protection with a design allowing greater breathability. And it’s also the first rapidly biodegradable motorcycle armour, which means it’ll disappear in around three to five years in landfill, rather than littering the planet indefinitely.
The new Weise Hive Jacket is certified to EN17092-3:2020 AA, with the Level 1 armour. Also inside the jacket are two pockets, along with another zipped pair on the outside. And the waterproof liner is also windproof and breathable, so you can stay cool and comfortable even when it’s raining for a bit during your ride.
You can find the Weise Hive jacket in Black only, in sizes S-5XL. And it’ll cost you £199.99. You can find it at your local Weise stockist, which actually includes Halfords. If that’s a bit pricey, Weise also recently added Camo to the colours available for the £139.99 Weise Scout jacket, which also features large mesh airflow panels. Either will be a much better option than riding in a t-shirt when it’s warm, with protection in an accident, from road debris hitting you, and from sudden bad weather.
