Lots of companies might want to learn from the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, as despite continuing global disruption, Ducati achieved record sales in 2022.
The Bologna company passed 60,000 bikes per year for the first time in the history of the firm, delivering a total of 61,562 motorcycles around the world. Which was growth of 3.6% on 2021, with Italy remaining the main market for the brand, demanding 9,785 models in 2022. The United States fell slightly due to logistical and shipping problems, but still saw 8,441 bikes delivered, followed by Germany as the third largest market.
In terms of models, the Multistrada V4 range was the most popular, with 10,716 bikes sold. It was followed by the various Monster models, which combined to achieve 7,971 sales, and the Scrambler 800 family followed up with 6,880 bikes delivered to finish in third.
The previous year, the Multistrada had topped the range, but it had been followed by the Scramblers, and then the Monster series.
The growth of Ducati was also seen in the largest ever number of dealerships around the world, with new openings in Brunei, Ecuador, El Salvador and Mongolia meaning a record number of 821 outlets in 96 markets.
Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali shared his thoughts on the success: “Achieving a sales result above the already excellent of 2021 in such a difficult year for the entire automotive system, which was afflicted by serious supply discontinuities, particularly in the world of semiconductors, is really an important measure of the flexibility with which the whole of Ducati reacted, together with our suppliers and dealers. This flexibility allowed us to contain the impact on delivery delays for our fans – whom I take this opportunity to thank for their patience and dedication – and thus also to achieve this sales result. The team of women and men present in Ducati today is in my opinion the best ever and reflects the work done in recent years on the growth and enhancement of talents. Therefore, a big thank you goes to all of them because without their commitment the successes achieved by the Company would not have been possible. Thanks also to the union representatives who have always been a willing interlocutor to find together the best solution to the problems of this tumultuous year.”
