If you work at a motorcycle manufacturer surrounded by new bikes and parts all day, it’s not surprising that you might want to try building something a bit different. Hence official creations like the GASGAS MC 450F Flat Tracker, as firms realise the appetite for seeing project bikes being wheeled out of factories as well as from custom builders.
Obviously, it’s a modern flat track racer rather than a vintage example, and uses a stock MC 450F motocross bike. It was stripped down and then rebuilt using GASGAS Technical Accessories. This kept it simple, and also might encourage other owners to do something similar by investing in the official parts from the factory. The only exception is the Akrapovic Evolution Line Exhaust System.
Specific details were revealed, so we can’t share a shopping list of parts for you to attempt a similar conversion. But there is a video of the full bike build – from the ground up:
The video lists the GASGAS WP Xplor Pro Rear Shock with a shortened suspension travel, Supermoto Triple Clamp, WP Xact Pro Forks, a 48-tooth Black Andodized Sprocket, a short front mudguard from the GASGAS MC 85 (which launched earlier in 2021), a Suter Slipper Clutch, Hinson Clutch Cover, and 19″ Flat Track Wheels with Maxxis DTR-1 tyres. And makes it look simple to create your own FT 450F via parts from your local dealer.
And the end result looks like a lot of fun, especially after my own experience of converting an enduro bike into a supermoto. S
