The price means it’ll be affordable to use and replace as needed, especially as kids tend to grow into larger sizes quicker than your wallet might want. And the adult LS2 MX437 is available for not much more, at £79.99 to £89.99 depending on the design.
But the LS2 MX437J Fast Mini Evo helmet still has the same Kinetic Polymer Alloy which the firm use for most of their adult crash protection, combining flexibility to absorb energy, plus high resistance to penetration.
To give kids a solid education in helmet fastening, LS2 use a D-Ring for the MX437J, along with the firm’s metal security plate to keep everything in place.
For airflow, there are multiple top vents, a chin vent, and channels through the interior to the rear exhaust ports. But the lining is also breathable, hypoallergenic, moisture-wicking, removable and washable, so young riders don’t have any excuse for a stinky helmet.
Usefully, the MX437J is certified to ECE 22.05 for road use, so handy for the occasional pillion rides, and features a similar peak and aperture design to the adult version. Importantly, if the worst should happen, it also features an Emergency Release System for first responders to safely remove the cheek pads after a crash.
