Triumph Trekker GT E-Bicycle Launched

It’s not a new motorcycle, but the Triumph Trekker GT E-Bicycle is a return to the roots of the British company. Originally founded in 1884, and named the Triumph Cycle Company in 1886, the first motorcycles from the firm appeared later in 1902.

So just 136 years later, here comes the first electric bicycle from the company. The Triumph Trekker GT E-Bicycle has a claimed range of 150km per charge from a 250w 60Nm Shimano E6100 motor and E8035 504Wh battery.

The frame is aluminium, and has more Shimano parts fitted including a Deore Shadow 10-speed rear mechanism, and M6000 180/160 brakes.

There’s a fair crossover between motorcyclists and pedal power, so we’re sure some of our readers will appreciate details like the Selle Royal Vivo saddle, and the RockShox Paragon forks with 65mm travel.

The wheels of the Triumph Trekker GT E-Bicycle are Shimano hubs and Alex Volar 27.5″ rims, with Schwalbe Energizer Green Guard tyres.

You also get lots of additional premium equipment including integrated LED lighting, full-length matt-black mudguards, a blacked-out pannier rack, side stand, and ABUS pro-shield integrated lock.

And you can bump up the security with accessories available including a 270mm Triump U-lock, or a chain and ground anchor. Or you can get a Muc-Off/Triumph cleaning kit to keep the Matt Silver Ice and Matt Jet Black paint scheme looking good.

Ultimately, if you’re already looking for an electric bike for commuting or pleasure, then the Triumph Trekker GT E-Bicycle might be interesting. Especially if you already own a Rocket 3, Speed Triple or Bonneville.

It looks pretty good, and it’s more subtle than the Ducati MIG-RR Electric Bike which appeared in 2019. That was a mountain bike suitable for taking on off-road action, but the Triumph will probably more at home in an urban setting.

But the Trekker GT does come at a price. It’s immediately available in the UK, U.S and in Europe (excluding Germany and Austria), and it will set you back £2,950 including VAT.
