Recording your ride on video isn’t just about showing off and providing self-incriminating evidence to the police. Or building a career as a Youtuber. It can also be useful to settle insurance disputes and improve your rear vision. Which might the special Peugeot Metropolis 120 Ans has a built-in dash cam. The limited edition three-wheeled scooter has been created to celebrate 120 years of motorcycles from the company, with front and rear facing cameras.
Armand Peugeot created his first motorcycle back in 1898 with a De Dion-Bouton engine mounted on the rear wheel, which was shown at the Paris Exhibition that year. The bike never made it into production, but oddly enough the same year saw a Peugeot tricycle released. This was followed by quadricycles and then motorcycles from 1901.
Back to the present day, and the 120 Ans Metropolis is largely similar to the existing models. Which means it has the same four-stroke 400cc PowerMotion LFE engine to deliver 26.2kW or 35hp with good fuel consumption and low vibrations. You get disc brakes for the single rear and two front wheels. And a host of electronic gadgets including hazard warning lights which automatically activate if you do any emergency braking. Plus ABS, traction control, Smart Key keyless ignition, TPS tyre pressure monitoring and LED daytime running lights.
The 780mm high seat contains connected front and rear storage underneath. And you also get a locking mechanism with electronic parking brake for the independent dual tilting front wheels.
The Peugeot Metropolis 120 Ans does get some exclusive cosmetics. The colour is close to the Peugeot 308 Dark Blue, a paint closely associated with the Peugeot cars over the years. And you also get aluminium footboards and a deluxe seat embossed with the Peugeot monogram.
While the special Peugeot Metropolis 120 Ans has a built-in dash cam at the front and rear, the firm hasn’t released specs of the actual cameras. What we do know is that the cost of the three-wheeled scooter is £8199. Which is £100 more than current Peugeot Metropolis 400 RXR ABS and RS ABS. And less than some of the comparable models like the larger 500cc Piaggio MP3 range. And a fair bit cheaper than jumping up to the new Yamaha Niken at £13,499.
