The New Weise Citadel Motorcycle Jeans

The New Weise Citadel Motorcycle Jeans

April 22, 2025 By DanThornton Leave a Comment

Designed to look and feel like normal denim, the new Weise Citadel motorcycle jeans also offer a high level of protection and some bike-specific features.

They’re made from a single layer of stretch 390gsm cotton denim blended with Dyneema, so that they’re light, flexible and breathable. But they’re also tough, with Dyneema being the world’s strongest fiber,15 times stronger than steel. It’s been around since the 1970s, and is used in everything from cut-resistant gloves to crane ropes and armoured vehicles. So they should do a good job of resisting abrasions, with double and triple-stitched main seams to add strength and hold them together.

Impact protection comes from RE ZRO knee and hip arour which is designed to be lighter, more flexible and also have greater breathability. So the Citadels should be great for riding in hot weather. When I wore motorcycle jeans for commuting, I always found thicker, kevlar lined examples tended to get a bit warm after sitting at my desk for a while, so thinner, more breathable versions should be a bit more comfortable.

If you need to replace the armour, it’s both recyclable and biodegradable. It’s also removable when you want to put them in the washing machine, or if you don’t need that much protection to wear them down the pub.

You get a classic five-pocket layout, with a button waist and zipped fly. The semi boot cut should work with your bike boots, and one break from teadition is the lack of rivets, so you’re less likely to scratch your fuel tank and other bodywork.

The new Weise Citadel motorcycle jeans come in Egyptian Blue, in waist sizes 30″ to 42″, and will cost you £199.99. They’re AAA rated CE-approval to EN17092-2:2020.

You can find it at your local Weise stockist, which actually includes Halfords. And they aren’t the right choice for you, why not check out all our coverage of motorcycle clothing, including the Weise range, and other motorcycle jeans.
