One of the big joys of warmer weather is being able to switch from your winter riding kit. And while it might be tempting to just ditch your protective kit, there’s really no reason when you can get comfortable and well-ventilated gear like the new LS2 Air Raptor summer gloves for just £69.99.
They use goatskin leather, which is softer and more supple than the cow alternative. And the back and palm have plenty of perforations to keep your hands cool, along with Air Mesh fabric sections. You also get stretch panels at the finger joints, and both the thumb and index finger are touchscreen compatible so you can use all your favourite gadgets without having to remove the gloves.
In terms of protection, the new LS2 Air Raptor Gloves are certified to CE Level 1 (European CE testing has two levels with level 1 offering more dexterity and lower protection than level 2, e.g. the LS2 Swift gloves for example), with KP-1 knuckle protectors, and a Thermo-Plastic Rubber (TPR) slider covering the scaphoid area, with a double layer of goatskin applied to the palm and little fingers.
They’re secured at the wrist by Hypalon Velcro, and should be low profile enough to fit under your jacket sleeves.
Personally, I always loved having a pair of decent summer motorcycle gloves handy, especially for commuting and ride-outs. They’re a great alternative to full-on trackday race gloves, which can be a bit cumbersome and sweaty, especially if you’re throwing on a jacket and some motorcycle jeans rather than your one-piece leathers.
