If you fancy a more artistic special edition scooter celebrating historic designs, then you might like the new Indonesian-inspired 2024 Vespa Primavera Batik.
Apparently Batik is a traditional Indonesian fabric which dates back to the 12th century, originating on the island of Java. The designs can celebrate different things, and the special edition Vespa uses a base colour of Batik Green to evoke waves crashing onto tropical beaches, with seven different patterns referring to prosperity and the origins of life, strength and longevity, respect for origins, charm and charisma, leadership and wisdom.
Whether or not you’re interested in Indonesian culture and art, the 2024 Vespa Primavera Batik does look a bit more interesting than most typical scooter designs. Apparently the decorations have been applied using Water Transfer Technology, with the cravattino freize on the front, the opening of the glove compartment and the footboards all getting the artwork. And the light brown saddle also has green stitching to match the rest of the Primavera Batik.
There’s also a matching top box, which can be customised with Batik stickers, available separately.

Originally a special edition only sold in Indonesia in 2023, along with a matching helmet, the new press release presumably means it’ll be available to a wider market. The existing version was based on the Primevera 125cc model, so presumably this will be the same, with the standard model costing £4,740 new, and other special editions, such as the Disney Mickey Mouse model, costing £5,000. So we can only assume the Batik model will be similar.
