If you’re looking for a slightly agressive, streetfighter-style helmet, the new NEXX X.WST3 helmet might be worth checking out. It’s available with either a multi-composite fibre shell or carbon fibre, and both options are ECE22.06 certified.
The NEXX X.WST3 X-Matrix2 is the multi-composite version, with almost identical specs to the ZERO Pro carbon shell. Both helmets are available with three-outer shell sizes across sizes XXS-3XL, for a better fit and reducing unnecessary bulk.
And looking like you’ve ridden in from a science fiction film or videogame doesn’t mean the designers ignored aerodynamics or comfort. In addition to the overall shape, the X.WST3 also has a drag-reducing rear spoiler to help your head stay stable and reduce neck strain.
For comfort, there’s the NEXX Anti-Vibration EPS system, which uses a rubber layer between the inner and outer EPS to absorb vibrations, along with the unique Recoil Visor System with spring-loaded platers to pull the visor against the seal around the aperture, making it rainproof and airtight.
This means air comes in where you want it, through the front and back vents, through a chamber between the EPS liner and padding. And all models are ready to be fitted with a supplied Pinlock Anti-Fog system. The interior is made from a soft-touch X.MART dry fabric with synthetic leather and stitch detailing, and the W.WST3 also has a Fast Release System to remove cheek pads without moving the head or neck in an accident, which also comes in useful when you want to clean your helmet lining. And it’s also ready to accept X-COM3 Bluetooth communication systems, or a camera on a removable side mount.
Aside from the frankly terrible name, the X.WST3 seems like a pretty decent option for anyone who wants to look a bit different, without having to put up with the usual downsides of discomfort and wind noise.
The new NEXX X.WST3 X-Matrix2 models cost from £329.99 in plain White Pearl, Wild Blue or Black MT, and £349.99 in four graphic options. The carbon X.WST3 Zero Pro costs £429.99 and also features a magnetic X.Lock helmet strap.
