There’s a higher standard for off-road motorcycle helmets, as the new LS2 X-Force helmet achieves the first FIM-2 homologation for Motocross, Speedway, Enduro and Cross-Country championships.
A first phase of homologation began in 2016 for circuit riding, with the first homologation in 2019. And there are now 38 examples from 22 different manufacturers. The off-road phase began in 2022, so LS2 have led the way in getting their helmet homologated.
Launching for 2024 with a full carbon shell made from high grade 6k twill weave, the X-Force weighs 1200g. The peak is adjustable and extendable, along with an extra flexible and shatterproof version if you want to swap them over. And alongside multiple top vents to let air keep you cool as it passes through to the exhaust ports in the rear, there’s also a built-in hydration kit.
Inside is a perforated sponge foam inner with a removable and washable liner, and you get a Double-D ring fastener on the reinforced helmet strap, along with the emergency release system if you have any incidents.
Along with the FIM-2 Homologation, it’s also ACU Gold approved, and ECE 22.06 homologated for road use. And on top of everything else, you also get a carrying backpack.
The new LS2 X-Force comes in sizes XS-2XL, with four difference shells used across the range to ensure a good fit. And it’s prices at a surprisingly reasonable £299.99 in a solid carbon finish, or £319.99 for one of the three graphic options available.
You can order LS2 helmets online from GhostBikes (or RevZilla in the U.S), including some good discounts and deals. If you’re looking for a new motorcycle helmet, why not check out our other Helmet news and articles, or our previous coverage of the LS2 range
