There’s a new adventure motorcycle from the Chinese brand long-partnered and often powered by KTM, with the flagship 2023 CFMoto 800MT Explore launched this month. It’s available from UK dealers for £11,990,
Power comes from the 799cc parallel twin which was previously used in the 790 Adventure, so it’s a proven engine offering 67kW of power (90hp), and 75Nm of torque (55.4 ft-lb), similar to the existing Sport and Touring versions. And it also features similar spoked wheels to the Touring model, fitted with Michelin Anakee tyres, with a 110/80 R19 at the front and 150/70 R17 at the rear, and a tyre pressure monitoring system to keep an eye on them.

In fact, you need to be fairly expert in the CFMoto range to spot the differences, as all three versions of their largest capacity model feature the same 825mm seat height, 19 litre tank, and styling by Austrian design company Kiska, who have worked with KTM for around three decades.

One difference is that the six selectable Ride Modes include the Off-Road option with a softer throttle response and maximum rear wheel slip with the lowest level of traction control, and All Terrain, which softens the throttle even more, and removes TCS and ABS entirely. That’s combined with all the other modern riding aids and gadgets, including the 8 inch TFT display featuring Apple CarPlay, heated seat and grips as standard, cruise control, Combined Anti-lock Braking System (C-ABS), power assisted slipper cluthc and bi-directional quickshifter. Plus the rearward Behind Radar System, with blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear collision warning.
The new CFMoto 800MT Explore weighs in at 22kg with 190mm of ground clearance, and is available in Starry White or Gem Black for £11,990. And at the moment, UK buyers of either the Touring or Explore models can get free aluminium touring cases and a top box valued at £1,188 while stocks last.
