The German muscle bike has been around since 2014, and has received a major update for 2021. So the naked all-rounder now comes with 165hp, and drops the weight to 199kg to improve the handling and performance. Which means the new Evotech Performance BMW S 1000 R and Sport accessories might come in rather handy.

If you’re lucky enough to be an owner of the 2021 BMW S 1000 R or the Sport version with extras including Gearshift Assist Pro, a Dynamic Pro riding mode, Dynamic Damping Control and more, then you may also want to invest in some of the accessories to increase the crash protection and keep your new naked bike safer from damage, dissuade pillions by removing the rear footrests, or just add some paddock stand bobbins to make maintenance that bit easier.
Fabrictaed and finished in Alford, Lincolnshire, the full range of parts includes:

Commenting on the BMW S 1000 R & S 1000 R Sport Accessory Lines, Dan Rack of Evotech Performance said: “Based on looks alone, you can tell the S 1000 R is designed to thrill from the word go. Those lucky enough to make the most of its acceleration and top speed will never forget that experience – the fact it also stops and goes around corners at a good lick, like a sports replica, is a bonus. It would be fair to say the fitment of any EP accessories are finishing touches to the S 1000 R.”
Picking some examples, the Evotech engineers had to work hard to create the Crash Protection to provide the best strength and performance while also clearing the main mounting points, plus the upper and inner cowls. So you get high density nulon crash bobbins with internal aluminium cores connected to CNC-machined frame mounts with stainless steel fasteners. And all the aluminium parts get black powder coating to protect against the elements. They’re priced at £235.

You can also choose to protect your brake lever, clutch, or both with CNC-machined protector arms made from billet aluminim and stainless steel bar ends. The Evotech lever protector kits also feature airflow holes and deflector lines in the arms to prevent any problems with air turbulence and your grip on the handlebars. And everything is once again treated to black powder coating for durability. You can get the individual kits for the front brake or clutch at £99.98, or pick up a combined kit for £150.

As one of the few people who wants to completely ignore his mobile phone during a ride, the Sat Nav / Mobile Phone Mount isn’t for me. But if you need to stay connected or don’t enjoy occasionally getting lost you get a rigid mounting point which is pivot-lock adjustable with spaces and replacement stainless steel clamp bolts, an aluminium main bracket, and the ability to use the existing handlebar mounting clamps. And you can pick from five versions to get the right mounting types, with the Garmin, TomTom, Quad Lock, SP Connect and Ultimateadd ons ranging from £44.99 to £54.98.

Along with track day option of the Tail Unit Blanking Plate to keep your lights from damage, or the Rear Paddock Stand Bobbins for easier maintenance, an Evotech performance Footrest Blacking Plate Kit is also available.
This means you can ditch the pillion footpegs for track days, or if you prefer the look and don’t ever want to carry passengers. They come in black power coat for £31.49 and mean that once you’ve removed the rear pegs, you don’t end up with openings left for water and dirt to get into.

You can buy the parts directly via the Evotech Performance online shop. Keep up with all the latest BMW motorcycles news, classic examples and custom bikes, here. Obviously Evotech and other companies still cater for older models of the BMW S 1000 R, so you can adapt and improve secondhand bikes, with plenty on sale via eBay right now.
