You’ll soon be able to buy into a presitigious Italian motorcycle brand for a lot less. Following up on their launch of the AMO electric bicycle, we’ve now seen the MV Agusta Rapido Serie Oro Electric Scooter revealed. And apparently it’s aimed as ‘sophisticated urban swellers looking for a safer and more enoyable way to move around the city. Presumably written by someone who hasn’t almost been knocked off a pavement by a teenage scooter rider.
To be fair, every automotive and motorcycling brand is trying to figure out what an electric future looks like. And it makes sense for iconic bike companies to cover the range of two-wheeled transport. I just can’t decide whether the MV Agusta Repido Serie Oro looks cool or tacky.
It certainly has some decent features for a premium electric scooter with a magnesium alloy frame, 10″ tubeless front and rear “fat” tyres, and dual hydraulic disck brakes. And it’s also got a 4-inch LCD dashboard with a control panel and speedo, which will connect via an app to your smartphone.
In terms of performance, the Rapido has a 48V 500W brushless electric motor generating up to 24Nm, with a top speed of nearly 40Km/h (although this is locked to 25km/h for EU countries). And the range should be up to around 50km, depending on your choice of the four power modes, with pedestrian, Eco, Comfort and Sport+

The quality and the level of performance of our e-mobility vehicles are the same we achieve in our traditional production of motorcycles. In that sense we can truly say that MV Agusta is also all about the Art of E-Mobility.”
Most importantly, it means you can buy a brand new MV Agusta for under 1000 Euros, with the MV Agusta Rapido Serie Oro Electric Scooter revealed at a price of €999, and available initially online, and then through the MV Agusta dealer network. But until Christmas 2021, or while supplies last, you can pick one up for a launch discount of €849.
