Honda Motor Europe originally worked with the French bike builders to create two new FCR Original Honda CMX1100 Rebel Customs to display at the annual Wheels and Waves festival. But due to the ongoing global challenges, we’ll just have to admire them online instead.
The Rebel cruiser uses a re-tuned 1,084cc parallel twin-cylinder engine shared with the Africa Twin, mounted in a tubular steel frame to try and combine comfortable and leaisurely cruising with a bit more excitement and handling for the corners. So FCR Original have worked on taking the bike in two different directions with the Sport and Bobber.
The FCR Original Honda CMX Sport
The CMX Sport aims to highlight the performance angle of the Rebel by adding to the sportier aspects. Which also makes it look and feel more muscular and aggreesive than the stock bike. A big part of it is a modified swingarm to allow a 17-inch CB500F rear wheel and Dunlop D212 190/55-ZR17 tyre to be fitted. And it also meant a pair of black Ohlins rear shock absorbers could be fitted for handling.
The stock engine gets an FCR Original stainless steel exhaust, and the footrests are hand-built. And the short front mudguard was also created from scratch to sit 25mm lower than the original, hugging that front tyre.
FCR Original also added oversize handlebars and moved the speedo to the top yoke. And some of the biggest changes are the custom polyester and carbon fuel tank with aluminium filler, and the rear seat unit with LED lighting and an Alcantara seat. Modern 3D scanning and printing helped to create the new parts, and definitely make the CMX Sport stand out.
The FCR Original Honda CMX Bobber
The second of the FCR Original Honda CMX1100 Rebel customs focuses more on style with the Bobber keeping the stock suspension and swingarm. But it gets lowered 25mm at the front, and also gets custom black-spoke wheels and some big Bridgestone tyres.
The CMX Bobber also gets some new aluminium handlebars, a leather seat with perforated ribbing, and a painted headlight surround. More noticeable is another simple aluminium mudguard, but this one is a little longer with a Mirrachrome finish.
Details include the ceramix-coated FCR Original exhaust, and the mini FCR Original LED indicators. Like the CMX Sport, 3D scanning was used to create a custom polyester and carbon fuel tank, but this one gets a Mirrachrome and blue satin finish along with aluminium filler.
Of the two FCR Original Honda CMX1100 Rebel customs, the Bobber stands out a little more due to the paint, and chunky tyres. But both bikes have a lot of smaller details which stand out once you notice them.
