If you’re planning some motorcycle touring or a long distance adventure, picking one named after a 15th century explorer might help inspire you. The new Weise Cabot leather jacket is apparently named after John Cabot, and opts for a classic design with 1.2-1.4mm cowhide.

We’re not quite sure of the link with the Italian-born Cabot, but you can’t go too far wrong with a classic black motorcycle jacket. And the jacket has a soft and supple wax finish, so it should be comfortable to wear on your bike or down the pub.
The classic look includes padded arm details and YKK vintage-style zips. Plus the waist and collars feature poppers to adjust and close them, ensuring a suitable retro look. Handy if you happen to ride a classic bike, or a vintage-style cafe racer. But it’ll also look OK if you’re nipping out on a modern sportsbike.
And inside the jacket, you get the modern features you might expect for comfort and safety. They include CE-approved shoulder, elbow and back armour, and a connecting zip for motorcycle trousers if you want more protection.

You also get a removable 120-gram thermal quiilted liner for cold weather, and a textile inner lining so you don’t end up stuck to the jacket when it’s warmer. Plus there are three internal pockets, and another three on the outside, so you can carry the essentials.

The new Weise Cabot leather jacket is available in sizes 40-50 in Black only, and will cost you £339.99.
You can find it at your local Weise stockist, which actually includes Halfords. And if it’s not the right choice for you, why not check out all our coverage of motorcycle jackets, including the Weise range.
