The two downsides of tang bags are that they aren’t always particularly weatherproof, and it can be a pain to fit and remove them when you need to fill up with petrol. But the new SW-Motech PRO Yukon WP Tank Bag apparently solves both those issues. So that’s handy if you need more luggage space.

Weather protection comes from a waterproof EVA vinyl lid, which secures magnetically to the TPU themoplastic main compartment. So you get a solid barrier to keep the rain and elements out, but it’s still possible to open and close the tank bag with your motorcycle gloves on. Plus there’s a waterproof viewing compartment inside, so you can take a look at your phone or map without having to faff around or risk getting everything wet.
The welded body means no seams for moisture to sneak in, and you get sealed zippers, plus the main metal zipper is lockable, and you can use a cable lock or other security if you’re leaving the tank bag on your bike.

So what about getting to your petrol cap? Well, the SW-Motech PRO Yukon WP Tank Bag uses a tank ring attached to your bike. And a Fidlock magnetic guide helps to steer the latching system into the right position, before the lock clicks firmly into place. Which should mean you can quickly and easily fit or remove the bag as needed, without having to faff with straps or other hassles.
So those are the two main hassles with tank bags all sorted, although it does mean that you can’t squish the Yukon down with your chin if you’re tucking in for a quick blast of speed. But on the flip side, you do get six litres of storage capacity, and a Molle attachment web on the top for fitting more accessories, such as a waterproof smartphone or tablet holder.
The Yukon tank bag will cost you £128.30 including VAT, and the Pro Tank Rings start from £25.66. You can find out more on the SW-Motech site, here. Or browse the latest and most interesting motorcycle products, here, including motorcycle luggage, and other stuff from the SW-Motech range.
