Limited Edition New Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini Unveiled

Limited Edition New Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini Unveiled

Fancy a new motorcycle which celebrates two of the most famous and iconic Italian automotive manufacturers? Because the new Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini has been unveiled to do just that.

The bike is inspired by the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37, which is the most powerful and prestigious car produced by the company. Just 63 examples are being created and personalised to each individual customer with 819hp from a V12 engine and hybrid electric boost. So by comparison the 630 models of the Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini almost seems mass market.

The number has been chosen to honour the 1963 founding date of Lamborghini. Which is a good move, as Ducati is owned by Lamborghini, which is itself a subsidiary of Audi, and ultimately the Volkswagen Group.

So the most obvious similiarity between the Italian supercar and muscle bike are the Gea Green colour and Electrum Gold forged wheel rims. But if you look closer, you can see more of the work that’s come from the Lamborghini and Ducati design departments collaborating.

The forged wheels are a new design, but the carbon fibre air intakes and radiator covers are also new, with a floating design over the main structure. The hexagon and Y motif associated with Lamborghini are used for the shape of the exhaust and the detailing on the seat of the Diavel.

You also get carbon fibre for the silencer cover, spoiler, central tank cover, seat cover, front and rear mudguards, dashboard cover and headlight frame.

Along with the carbon bits and paintscheme (the only Ducati red feature are the Brembo radial brake calipers), the Lamborghini model also features an aluminium plate on the frame with the serial number of the 630 produced.

You can even complete the look with a limited edition matching crash helmet, if that’s your thing…

Underneath is a bike that’s very much similar to the Ducati Diavel 1260 S, with the same 162hp 1262 Testastretta engine, fully-adjustable Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes and Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres. But you do save a total of 1kg total weight, if you need to justify buying the bike for practical reasons, due to the lashing of carbon fibre.

Obviously if you’ve already ordered one of the $2 million Sian FKP 37s, then it makes sense to pick up a matching Diavel for commuting and trips to the shops. Which does leave 567 examples looking for owners who want a Ducati inspired by the Lamborghini.

No official price has been released, but it’s likely to be a premium on top of the £20,195 for a Diavel 1260 S.

It’s a niche motorcyle for sure, but the Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini will tick some kind of brand synergy box for VW, Audi, Lamborghini and Ducati. And the forged wheels look gorgeous, whether or not you also appreciate the green and gold paint scheme, or the shopping list of carbon fibre parts which have been added.

Of course, if you want to make your standard Diavel more special, Ducati have a range of parts and accessories available for you. If you need a bike to start with, then you can find secondhand Diavels for sale via eBay.
