Motorcycle Game RIDE 4 Launches Today

Motorcycle Game RIDE 4 Launches Today

October 8, 2020 By DanThornton Leave a Comment

It’s not quite the same as real riding, but motorcycle game RIDE 4 launches today to give you a way to spend your time when the weather is just too grim to face getting your bike out of the garage. And then having to spend hours cleaning it afterwards.

The fourth title in the series from Italian developers Milestone, RIDE 4 features around 180 bikes from all the manufacturers you might expect, and a few more unusual examples from Paton, Suter and Vyrus. Plus they’ve partnered with Yamaha this year, so you get a selection of road and race R1s, R6s, R7s, and also the FZR750R 0W01, RD500LC, and TZR 250R among others.

And the bike models have been rebuilt using CAD and 3D scan data, so should be more realistic and detailed than ever. Plus there’s a selection of 30 venues to thrash them around, including real race circuits (Donington, Oulton, Cadwell, Brands Hatch and Snetterton in the UK, for example), road courses (the Southern 100 and the Northwest 200), and some other notable locations including Macau and the Nordschleife.

All the real circuits and roads have apparently been laser and drone scanned, so it could be useful to learn a layout before racing or enjoying a track day. Whether that’s at Suzuka, Laguna Seca or Mugello.

Other features which make RIDE 4 worth checking out include a new career mode, more freedom to design custom bike, suit and helmet liveries, and better computer opponents using the latest version of an AI system to realistically adapt to track conditions, fuel loads and tyre wear.

Speaking of fuel and tyres, RIDE 4 adds a new Endurance mode which means you’ll need to deal with pit stops. And there’s also dynamic lighting and weather, so you can enjoy trying to make it back to the pits on slick tyres during a downpour.

Developers Milestone also created MotoGP 20, so if you enjoyed that but fancy riding some road bikes, then you’ll have a good idea of what to expect.

Motorcycle game RIDE 4 launches today for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and you can download it online from Steam for the PC, the Microsoft store for the Xbox One or the PlayStation Store for the PS4. More traditional gamers can find physical copies at retailers including Game and Amazon.

And with the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X due out for Christmas, you’ll be pleased to know you can upgrade the game for free when you, or your kids, have spent on a new console. The Xbox version will be handled automatically, but you can download the PlayStation 5 version from January 21st, 2021 until April 30th.
