You can now get an upgraded clutch cable for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 from Venhill. The British firm has added the bike to the Featherlight range, which claim to provide a lighter, smoother and more durable cable.
You should also get an improved feel from the clutch lever, as the Featherlight range features marine-grade stainless steel for the inner wire to resist stretching, plus a teflon liner which means less friction and a lighter action required.
As a bonus, you also don’t need any lubrication to keep the clutch cable operating properly.
The Interceptor 650 is one of the first first parallel twin-cylinder bikes from the company in more than 50 years, alongside the Continental GT, which shares the same 47bhp, A2 licence compliant engine.
Starting at £5,500, the bike has been developed for the Indian market. But the no-frills naked bike also works well for UK commuting and urban riding, so a light and reliable clutch will be useful for dealing with frequent stop and start traffic.
To help with repeated stress and pressure on the cable, Venhill use a ‘bird-cage’ process to allow solder to penetrate the weave of the cable itself, making the bond much stronger and durable. So it should cope well with quick getaways from traffic lights.
If you’re interested in an upgraded clutch cable for your Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, the good news is that the Venhill Featherlight version is a straight swap with the original. So no need to modify your Enfield to get it fitted.
