The Honda Forza has been around for two decades now since it was first introduced. So it’s nice to see that the 2020 Honda Forza 300 scooter gets a limited edition, even if there’s no big celebration of the anniversary. Not many people get excited about a mid-size scooter, but versatile and capable two-wheeled transport is an import part of motorcycling.

The 2020 Honda Forza 300 is the result of gradual evolution throughout the last two decades. It’s gained Continously Variable Transmission (CVT), a Smart key, PGM-FI fuel injection, combined ABS and even an audio package and speakers. And a 2018 update made it smaller, lighter and sportier.

Both the Forza and the SH300i share a 279cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected SOHC four-vavle engine. And tuning including a gas flowed head, long reach spark plugs and altereed valve timing are designed to make it more entertaining throughout the rev range, with a peak of 18.5kW at 7,000rpm and 27.2Nm torque at 5,750rpm.

This means the Forza 300 tops out at around 80 mph (129km/h), and covers 0-200 metres in 11.1 seconds. So not the fastest thing on two wheels, but capable to dealing with motorways and dual carriageways when required.

You should be comfortable…

But people don’t buy a mid-range scooter for performance. Generally it’s more about fuel economy, and the 11.5 litre tank is combined with a claimed 31km per litre, meaning a potential range of more than 350 kilometres per tank. Or 217 miles, if you prefer.

You also get modern engine management gadgets like the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) as standard. It’s controlled by a switch on the left handlebar and detects any different between front and rear wheel speeds, calculates the slip ratio, and then controls engine torque to regain rear wheel grip.

The engine is also designed to last and stay reliable with a roller type rocker arm, plain journal crank bearings and sealed crankcases. So you should just be able to rack up the miles without too much hassle.

Overall, the Forza 300 has a 1510mm wheelbase with 26.5 rake and 89mm trail. The total length is 25mm shorter than the pre-2018 models, with a 780 seat height and an 860mm mirror width to hopefully let you filter without too much problems. The handlebar width is 755mm if you fold the mirrors in.

Given the joy of urban commuting, the 15-inch front wheel and 14-inch rear try to give the best combination of comfort and traction, with a 256mm single front disc and 240mm rear, plus 2 channel ABS when someone steps off the pavement or pulls out in front of you.

The 2020 Honda Forza 300 scooter will be available in a total of five colours, with Crescent Blue Metallic, Peal Nightstar Black, Matt Cynos Grey Metallic, Matt Pearl Cool White, and the Limited Edition – Exclusive ‘Air Force’ Grey.

The Limited Edition also gets red stitching around the leather seat and matching wheel rim tape, and a colour-matched Smart Key top box. The official Honda accessories range also includes a rear carrier rack, inner bags, heated grips, an alarm and more.

Made in Italy, the GT scooter also sports an electronically-operated windscreen which can be adjusted on the move, an ACC plug for your mobile, LED lights and an LCD instrument panel.

The standard edition of the 2020 Forza 300 scooter costs £5,099, with finance starting from £85 per month based on Honda finance options.
