A short 11 second video released on the official Kawasaki Youtube channel suggests a new, supercharged motorcycle will be announced soon.
But there’s no clue whether it may be a replacement for models like the Z1000SX sports tourer, or possibly a radical new supercharged naked Kawasaki?
There are reasons for and against both ideas. Kawasaki already offer the supercharged H2 SX touring range, and the current Z1000SX won’t meet the Euro5 emissions rules coming into effect from January 1st, 2020.
The downside is that a cheaper, more manageable supercharged sports-tourer wouldn’t necessarily require the quickshifter that the video sountrack suggests. Or stir up as much interest and excitement.
On the other hand, there’s the Kawasaki Z1000 and Z1000R with their unique style. Although the base model has evolved since the new design was introduced in 2014, the power of the liquid-cooled in-line four stroke hasn’t. A new supercharged naked Kawasaki Z with more than the existing 140hp would definitely deserve some excitement…
