The Moto Guzzi Open House 2019 took place last weekend from September 6th-8th, and saw a record 20,000 turn up on a single day to celebrate the famous Italian motorcycle brand.

Visitors from across Europe travelled to the Moto Guzzi factory and museum in Mandello del Lario to view new and classic bikes, test current models, and meet other Guzzi fans.

Attractions include the ‘Road to Mandello’ convoy, which saw more than 200 Guzzi riders reaching the town from Milian.

The Moto Guzzi Open House 2019 also allowed for more than 400 attendees to take test rides of the current motorcycle range on the roads surrounding Lake Como. And to hear special guests interviewed in the Moto Guzzi Village, run in partnership with Virgin Radio.

New bikes which saw a lot of interest include the all-terrain Moto Guzzi V85 TT, and the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance version of the V7 III which has its own championship finishing in Misano on October 13th, 2019.

Plus there was also the Moto Guzzi Museum to enjoy, with more than 150 historic bikes. The firm began in 1921, and hsn’t moved from Mandello. And neither have some of the legendary bikes including the 1924 Guzzi 4V of Guido Mentasti, the 1946 twin 500 of Omobono Tenni, the 1955 World Champion Guzzi 350, and the 1969 speed recording setting V7s. Plus examples like the 1928 Norge, the 1930s Guzzi Sport and GT, the popular Airone and the 1950s Falcone.

The official historic archive was also open for anyone wanting to trace the history of their own bike. And visitors could tour both the current production lines and the historic wind tunnel.

Definitely something to keep in your diary for next year if you’re a Moto Guzzi fan. Or just want to experience more of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, surrounded by masses of Guzzisti and members of the Moto Guzzi ‘Clan’ owners group. Plus Italian street food, music and all sorts of merchandise and memorabilia to pick up.

The 30,000 attendance matches the record-setting number from 2018. It’ll be interesting to see what might be added to increase numbers even more in the future…
