A British rider has taken the title for the second year in succession, as Davey Todd wins the 2019 International Road Racing Championship with one round left to race.
Due to turn 24 in September, Todd has won all except one of the 10 Superbike class races so far. And his dominance means he succeeds fellow Brit Danny Webb as the IRRC champion.

With the final round in Frohburg still to come, the top four spots in the series are held by BMW riders. Dider Grams, Erno Kostamo and Marek Cerveny are currently in the same order as they finished the season in 2018.
Born in Saltburn, Todd started racing at the age of 6. After competing in Motocross and Supermoto he switched to the 600cc National Superstock champion, before starting his first full season of road racing in 2018 including receiving the TT Newcomers Trophy.
“A double win in Hořice was an awesome way to wrap up the title with one round still left to go. It was another big milestone in an incredible year with the WEPOL Racing team,” said Todd.
That was despite half points awarded after a red flag in the first race at Horice. After finishing first in the opener, Todd simply needed to complete race two in the top ten, but instead pushed for the win to seal the title with double victory.

The 2019 season has included five rounds at Hengelo (NL), Imatra (FI), Terlicko (CZ), Chimay (BE), Horice (CZ), and will conclude on the 21-22nd of September with the sixth round at Frohburg (DE).
In the Supersport class, Matthieu Lagrive looks fairly certain to take the title for a second year with a lead of 47 points, and 50 up for grabs at the last round.
