If you’re buying a 125cc scooter, the chances are that you’re commuting or riding in cities a lot. So it’s good that the new Peugeot Pulsion scooter offers urban advantages for those learning to ride or travelling to work.

Two versions of the 2019 Peugeot Pulsion 125 are available, but they’re both the same price at £4499. You can pick the ‘Allure’ with a taller screen and a support plate to add top box. Although you’ll have to actually buy the luggage separately.

Or you can go for the Pegueot Pulsion RS, which looks sportier with bare handlebars, a sport style screen, and stainless steel footplates.
So what advantages do you get by picking a Pulsion? Well, it’s fairly compact, with a low centre of gravity and bars curved to offer both comfort and control. Along with the Euro4 and London ULEZ compliant liquid-cooled and fuel-injected Peugeot PowerMotion 125cc engine, which offers 14.6bhp and 11.9Nm of torque.

You also get ABS and the combined Synchro Braking Concept linked brakes as standard. Along with hard braking automatically triggering hazard warning lights. Plus daytime running lights.
But you also get some useful added technology. The 2019 Peugeot Pulsion 125 Smart Key comes with a function to flash the lights of the scooter. Handy if you can’t find it in a crowded bike bay or car park.

And even 125cc scooters now come with a huge amount of smartphone features. With the Peugeot, you can have turn-by-turn GPS on the dash or phone calls. And you can get SMS and social media updates on the full-colour TFT screen when you’re parked.

Getting Facebook messages via your bike may seem like a gimmick, but with more and more of us connected via social networks, it’s surprising how many people might only chat to you online. Which is a right pain if you’re trying to meet up at a bike meet and have to keep fumbling for your phone.

Plus you can sync up to 5 different devices via the i-Connect system, in case you have multiple phones, or you share your scooter with other people. And there’s a built-in 12v USB socket in the glove box to keep your devices charged.
