Picking the right motorcycle jacket is always a balance of performance, price and style. So the new Weise Ascari jacket aims to mix racing inspired design and features with the practicality of textile construction.
Inspired by Weise-supported British Superbike racer and Isle of Man TT record holder Peter Hickman, the Weise Ascari jacket is new for 2019. And the racing features include the close tailored fit. You also get an aerodynamic race hump for both a sports look and to help airflow over your head and back.

Presumably the name is also intended to reference the famous Alberto Ascari, who raced motorcycles before switching to cars and becoming F1 world champion in 1952 and 1953. The Italian is commemorated by the Ascari complex, which is part of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit. The Italian track was the third purpose-built venue in the world when it was completed in 1922 and has hosted MotoGPP, World Superbikes and every level of car racing
One problem with textile jackets can be air causing the sleeves to inflate and billow up. So some Velcro sleeve adjusters should keep that under control.

The Ascari jacket aims to be practical with a tough 600 denier outer shell, and TPU reinforcement cups on the outside. And there’s CE-approved shoulder, elbow and back armour on the inside of the Ascari.

With the new jacket, you also get a waterproof, windproof and breathable lining. And there’s a removable 120-gram thermal quilted lining. For warmer weather, you can open the zipped vents at the shoulders and rear.

There are elbow stretch panels to help you move around, and a trouser connection zip. Plus a pair of external pockets, with two more inside.

The Weise Ascari jacket is available in sizes S-3XL in either Black/White, Black/Blue or Black/Red and costs a pretty reasonable £149.99
Which makes it an affordable way to get some decent protection and style for less than a comparable leather jacket.
