Most of us sadly won’t experience the life of a world class motorcycle racer. But investing a top quality custom tailored set of leathers isn’t just for MotoGP or World SBK pros. It can make a huge difference to your comfort, as well as safety – especially if your physical dimensions aren’t typical. And there’s a new option with the BMW ProRace Suit now made-to-measure.
As someone with a longer body and shorter legs, any chance to get something which won’t bunch up at the top of my boots is a massive benefit to my riding. And a perfect fitting suit means less distractions when riding.

The standard BMW ProRace suit is still available in sizes 46-60 in Black, White and Red. But the made-to-measure options available via the online configurator mean you can change a whole host of options to get a unique suit.

As standard, the BMW ProRace is a one-piece cowhide nappa leather suit. There are protectors at the shoulders, hips, elbows and knees. And the knee sliders are interchangeable with Velcro fastening. For back protection, there are the options of an NP Pro back protector which goes into a pouch on the back. Or you can pick from strap-on protectors, a back protector, or back protector vest.

You also get multiple stretch inserts, perforated leather on the sleeves, chest and thighs, and a 3D spacer fabric used in the back of the suit for ventiliation. Plus you get an aerodynamic rear hump.

But with the BMW ProRace suit now available in made-to-measure, you can now pick a kangaroo leather construction for an additional cost.

And then there’s all the other options, which include adding team or sponsor logos. Or your nickname. And the likes of BMW Motorrad logos. You can also pick additional rib and thigh protection, with the choice of standad or Vibram VPOD thermal foam. Or adding a chest protector, and a drink pack for your hump.

American motorcycle racer Nate Kern gave early feedback: “The ProRace suit is very striking visually – you feel you want to try it on right away,” says Kern. “It has a wide range of functional options which include key safety and comfort features. The Made-to-Measure version has more options than I have ever seen before – including optional elbow sliders, kangaroo leather and much more besides.”

And it’s also a good investment for female riders. Lucy Glöckner has been an active motorcycle racer since she was 10 years old and is already wearing her unique suit: “Nowadays, everyone wants their own individual suit that is more easily identifiable. I was interested to see how the adaptation process would work exactly – after all, it’s not at all easy to measure yourself at first. But the configurator really is very simple to use – my suit fits perfectly. The protectors are the most important thing for me – and the ProRace suit has the best ones.”

With the BMW ProRace suit now made-to-measure, you can order either from your local BMW Motorrad authorised dealer, or online via their partner Gimoto.
