New OptiMate1+ Smart Charger Promises Better Battery Life

New OptiMate1+ Smart Charger Promises Better Battery Life

October 23, 2018 By DanThornton Leave a Comment

No one likes a flat motorcycle battery. But it’s even more annoying when you realise that it’s completely dead, rather than just out of charge. So the fact that the new OptiMate1+ Smart Charger promises better battery life is a good thing. And it’ll also keep the battery at peak performance for longer as well. Which is good.

New OptiMate1+ Smart Charger Promises Better Battery Life

The OptiMate1+ will maintain your 12V motorcycle battery with controlled charging, and long-term maintenance. Which means that you don’t have to worry about the battery drain from on-board computers and security systems between rides. Or if you’re storing your motorcycle for a while. Which is particularly useful for those of us who might want to keep our bike in the garage over Winter, but still be able to fire it up on the occasional sunny day.

The OptiMate1+ Smart Charger

The OptiMate1+ comes with a 1.8 metre (6ft) power cable, with two keyhole slots for easy mounting on a wall. Plus you can fit a Velcro strap to hang the charger from your handlebars if you want to keep it off the floor.

It is safe to use with all 12V STD (with removable filler caps), sealed AGM (absorbed glass mat), and sealed GEL lead-acid batteries. And the OptiMate1+ is designed so you can just connect and leave it. It will charge away with a 24-7-365 programme to keep your battery maintained and topped up. The low volt start will recharge batteries from as low as 4V. And there is built-in spark suppression with automatic shut-down if there’s a short-circuit or the battery is disconnected.

As well as the built-in protection from overcharging, using the OptiMate regularly can increase battery life by up to 400% compared to the four-year average. Which means you can potentially save the cost of at least a couple of replacement batteries by investing in it. And avoid having to stay at home to charge your bike while everyone else is out enjoying the first sunny days of the biking season. The new OptiMate1+ will cost you £42.99.
