Check your calendar, as Moto Guzzi Open House 2018 dates are announced for September. The oldest European motorcycle manufacturer in continuous production will open up their factory from 7-9th September 2018, with around 50,000 fans expected based on the last few years. And you’ll get to experience everything the Mandello de Lario base on Lake Como has to offer.
The weekend celebrations start at 3pm on Friday, Septmeber 7th. That’s when you’ll be able to visit the Moto Guzzi Museum and Shop. And given the history of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, there’s plenty to see. The company was started in 1921 by two Italian pilots and their mechanic – Carlo Guzzi, Gionavanni Ravelli and Giorgio Parodi after they served together during World War 1. Sadly Ravelli died just before the company was started with the due, and Giorgio Parodi’s brother Angelo. But he’s commemorated by the eagle wings in the Moto Guzzi logo.
Initial success for Moto Guzzi came from racing, including 1935 TT wins ridden by Stanley Woods, and continuing until the mid 1950s. Other notable racers include Omobono Tenni, and Bill Lomas, who won the 1955 and 1956 350cc titles for the factory, with a section devoted to the Derbyshire rider in the museum.
But there’s more to plan for as the Moto Guzzi Open House 2018 dates are announced. Both Saturday and Sunday will include the factory opening up for visits. Which means you can visit the production lines, the engine assembly line, and the history Wind Tunnel.
And there will be the Moto Guzzi village at the core of the factory. That’s the starting point for entertainment and test rides including the new Moto Guzzi V7 III Limited Edition, of which just 500 are being built. And it’s also the place for shopping for existing Guzzi owners and fans. Plenty of the range of official accessories will be displayed and on sale, along with clothing and merchandise.
More details are set to be announced, including perks for the Moto Guzzi Clan owners community. And you can expect a packed town of various historic and collectible vintage Guzzi machinery to be on display. So if you’re a Moto Guzzi fan or owner, it’s worth checking out hotels and your Italian phrasebook now.
The Moto Guzzi Open House 2018 dates are announced as September 7th-9th at the factory, located at Via Parodi 57, Mandello del Lario in Italy.
