2018 Yamaha YZF-R1M Racing Experience Track Dates

2018 Yamaha YZF-R1M Racing Experience Track Dates

March 5, 2018 By DanThornton Leave a Comment

Since 2015, Yamaha has offered a limited edition R1M version of the flagship YZF-R1. Which always means extra features, including upgraded electronics, bodywork and technology. If you were lucky enough to register and secure one of the £19,799 special Yamahas, then you’ll also be able to attend one of the two confirmed 2018 Yamaha YZF-R1M Racing Experience track dates. For the rest of us, we’ll just have to look on with envy.

2018 Yamaha YZF-R1M Racing Experience Track Dates

Applications for the 2018 Yamaha RZF-R1M opened back in November 2017, so by now you’ll probably know whether or not you’ll be getting one of the limited supply. And if so, you get free access to one of the two events which take place over two days in either the UK or Italy.

Along with other R1M owners, you’ll get to find out about key aspects of race bike preparation and set up with experts from the tyre and suspension industries, key VIPs and a mixture of current and former motorcycle racing stars. Those track experts will be involved in the classroom and on-track tuition. Which is nice. The first event in 2015 included a certain ex-Yamaha MotoGP star in the shape of Colin Edwards.

The 2018 Yamaha Racing Experience Dates are:

June 9 and 10, 2018 – Mugello Circuit, Italy

July 30 and 31, 2018 – Silverstone Circuit, UK.

What Makes the 2018 Yamaha YZF-R1M Special?

The latest R1M shares the crossplane engine with the normal R1. But gains extra tools including the exclusive Ohlins Electronic Racing Suspension which adapts automatically to track conditions based on measurements from the motorcycle’s 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit, and the latest Smart EC 2 ERS is the best example yet. It includes new brake, acceleration and corner support functions to prevent fork dive and minimise squat under acceleration based on either automatic or manual settings.

Also updated are the Quickshift System (QSS) which now includes downshifting, a new ECU mapping to fit with the QSS, and a new Lift Control to keep your front wheel planted on the ground. Plus the carbon fairing has new graphics which show off more of the experience weave.
