Bit of a niche for this particular product range. But after creating a rear hugger for the Gearlink Kawasaki British Superbike team, Skidmarx believe there are enough ZX-10Rs with aftermarket FTR swingarms to release both Road and Race versions for anyone to buy.
The Skidmarx ZX-10R Race hugger for FTR swingarms is designed to keep as small, light and unobtrusive as possible. But at the same time do the job of protecting the rear suspension and linkage from all the junk thrown up by a rear tyre at speed. Even on a relatively smooth and clean race circuit, there’s plenty of debris which can cause problems.
The normal model of Race hugger comes in GRP glass fibre with a high quality gloss finish, and mounts onto the standard fixing points on the FTR swingarms. But there’s also an even lighter carbon fibre model available for maximum style points and minimum weight. And obviously you can always fit the race version to your road bike should you want to.
Given the state of public roads in the UK, you might want to go for a bit more coverage. Which is why there’s a Skidmarx Road hugger for ZX-10Rs with FTR swingarms as well, which has a longer design. But it still fits in the same way, to make it easy to look after your suspension and undercarriage. And again, you can spend a bit more to offset the weight with a carbon fibre version if you want.
So the Skidmarx huggers for Kawasaki ZX-10Rs with FTR Swingarms will fit bikes from 2016 onwards. Both the Road and Race versions will cost you £89.95 in GRP. Or you can pick up a carbon fibre version for £139.95, and both prices include VAT.
