Fans of one-make racing can rejoice as the 2018 Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup calendar has been confirmed. For the ninth season in a row, the British Superbike championship will have an event featuring a field of entirely Italian bikes competing on a relatively level playing field.
The season will include 8 rounds, with each holding two races. And that means seven meetings in the UK, and one overseas event at Assen to close out the year. The 2018 Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup calendar will start at the Donington Park Grand Prix circuit, and also visits Brands Hatch, Outlon Park, Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Silverstone.
2017 saw a total of 52 riders registered to compete, and a full field is expected for 2018. And the Ducati being used will be the 959 Panigale. The twin-cylinder Ducati comes with a 157hp,955cc Superquadro engine, and also has a quick shifter, ride-by-wire, Bosch ABS, traction control and engine brake control. So there’s plenty to play with, even if only limited changes are allowed in the rules.
So you can probably expect another year of close racing. The 2017 season was won by Joe Collier, who claimed the title at the penultimate round at Silverstone.
