It’s easy to underestimate the value of a good set of footpegs. Generally most of us just need somewhere to rest our feet. But if you’re riding off-road, and standing up a lot, then they become more important than ever. So it might be worth considering these tougher Fastway Footpegs for BMW GS models, covering most F, G and R series bikes from 1999 onwards.
So what makes them better? For a start, the Fastway Evo 4 Footpegs are made from electromagnetically-polished billet 420 stainless steel to make sure they’re strong. And also resist rust and corrosion. Which is good, considering how much abuse your footpegs are likely to get on trails and dirt roads. At 89 x 57mm, the pegs are big enough to let you move around, and it also allows for a wide, three-rail design. Which means dirt and debris should fall back to the ground, rather than ending up coating your footpegs and making them uncomfortable and slippery.
The pegs also feature stainless steel studs, which are micro-adjustable. Which means you can raise and lower them depending on the conditions and your riding style. Or you can set them to reduce the wear on your boots if you need to save your footwear. They’re also removable, which is handy if they need replacing, or if you want flat footpegs.
Also adjustable is the higher of the pegs. The Fastway Evo 4 Footpegs can be mounted 25mm lower than the standard versions if you want some extra leg room. And a ‘Fast Kamber Mounting System’ means you can use some shims to adjust the tilt of the pegs up or down. Depending on how you like to sit, stand and grip the petrol tank with your knees.
The tougher Fastway Evo 4 Footpegs for the BMW GS models from 1999 onwards will cost you £139 per pair. And will bolt straight onto most F, G and R series motorcycles.
