It’s been around for a while. But there’s a new Buffalo Explorer Jacket for 2017. And it continues to offer decent features at a reasonable price.
The Buffalo Explorer has a 600 denier ripstop outer, with leather at the important parts for extra strength. It also has Level 2 CE approved armour at the shoulders and elbows. And there is a pocket for a back protector, which is available separately for £14.99. The jacket only comes in Black, but does have reflective stripes and detailing to help you be seen in the dark.
To keep you snug and dry there’s a waterproof, windproof and breathable drop liner. And the YKK main zip is hidden behind the storm flap, which is popper and Velcro fastened. So it should stop the worst of the weather getting anywhere near the opening, let alone inside it.
When it’s warm, you can open zipped vents on the chest, upper arms and the back of the new Buffalo Explorer jacket. And if it turns cold, there’s the removable 120 gram thermal quilted liner to stop you from catching a chill.
To get the right fit and stop cold air getting in, there’s an adjustable twin belt system at the waist. And Velcro adjusters at the collar, cuffs and arms. You can also attach the jacket to trousers with an 8-inch connecting zip.
Obviously you need to carry stuff with you when you’re riding your bike. So the Explorer has four external pockets, and two ‘hand-warmer’ pockets. Plus additional pocket space inside, and a large rear pocket. So you’ve got a way to carry maps if you’re stuck in a pre-Sat Nav era. Or waterproof overtrousers if you’re not still living in 1989.
As mentioned above, the new Buffalo Explorer jacket for 2017 will be available in any colour you like, as long as it’s Black. And it will set you back £139.99. If you want to make use of the connecting zip, then Buffalo will also provide a set of matching Endurance jeans for £99.99.
