New RS Trim for the 2017 Peugeot Kisbee

Europe’s most popular scooter is getting a new look. The Peugeot Kisbee has been topping European sales for 3 years in a row, and was also in the top 3 of all powered two wheelers from 2013-2015. And it’s set to do well again with new RS trim for the 2017 Peugeot Kisbee.

The look is described as a ‘stealthy, urban style’. Which means trying to make it cool enough for ‘ped riding teenagers. But also accepted to adults who want cheap, economical transport. Obviously it’s a more sensible look than the cooler and funkier Peugeot Speedfight. But the cheapest two-stroke Speedfights come in around £2199. Whereas the 2017 Peugeot Kisbee will set you back just £1499 (plus registration fee and VED).

The update means you will now get Satin Flash Silver bodywork. And 12″ black alloy wheels with contrasting red “RS” graphics. Plus you’ll rest your feet on alloy footplates, and get a tinted fly screen.

It looks alright. But the main concept hasn’t changed. For £1499 you get a 50cc four-stroke single-cylinder, and a claimed 108 miles per gallon. That’s helped by the low weight of 90kg. And it’s also got a manageable low seat height of 780mm.

But you also get a spacious dual seat for pillions, with flip-out aluminium foot pegs. And the lockable underseat storage bay with enough room for a full-face helmet.

It might not be as exciting as the latest, limited-edition sportsbike. But it’s one of the most cost-effective ways to travel on two wheels, especially from a European brand.

So aside from new RS trim for the 2017 Peugeot Kisbee, and the relatively low price and running costs, what else can you use to convince parents or family if you want to buy one?

Well, the single-cylinder puts out around 30% less Co2 than a 50cc two-stroke, so you’re helping the environment. Especially if you’re nipping through traffic rather than sat in a car every day. And a lighter con-rod, advanced piston design and three-chamber exhaust produce more torque to nip away from the lights. Plus you get sports profile tyres for better handling and stability. Plus telescopic front forks and twin shocks at the rear. The front has a 170mm disc brake, while the rear relies on a drum.

And the 2017 Peugeot Kisbee 50 RS also comes with an unlimited mileage 24-month warranty.
