A BMW Navigator sat nav system isn’t cheap. Having been developed by BMW and Garmin, the latest version will set you back more than £600, although you can pick it up for cheaper by shopping around. Either way, it seems slightly odd that the BMW R1200RT doesn’t a good way to keep it secure. Fortunately, you can now protect your BMW R1200RT Navigator system with a Wunderlich Security and Glare Shield.
It might look a simple solution. And it is. It’ll fix the Navigator in place underneath a solid metal bracket to stop someone walking off with it. And the lock and key mean you can still mount and remove your sat nav when you want.
The Wunderlich Security and Glare Shield won’t stop a determined thief with plenty of time. But it will stop you losing an expensive sat nav in seconds when you stop for a quick break. And we’ve all walked off for a toilet stop only to realise we’ve left something expensive on our bike.
The German-made stainless steel fittings also have a rubber insert to save vibrations affecting your Navigator.
It should be relatively simple to fit, as you don’t need to modify your BMW in any way. And as a bonus, it will also reduce glare. So you won’t have to squint to see where you’re meant to be going when it’s sunny. Wunderlich claim the instructions are clear and easy-to-follow. Obviously they haven’t seen me trying to do anything mechanical! And the Security and Glare Shield comes with a 5-year-warranty.
The Wunderlich Security and Glare Shield costs £89.00.
