Do you like iconic Italian scooters? Would you like to wear one on a T-shirt, whilst drinking from a mug covered in Vespas? Well, turn down your Paul Weller CD, unzip your Harrington jacket and enjoy the new 70th Anniversary Vespa Young Collection. Although we’re not sure ‘young’ and ’70th Anniversary’ really fit in the same sentence.
First up is the Vespa Young Collection Short Sleeve T-shirt. Which is 95% cotton, 5% elastane and costs £19.99 in sizes S-XXXL. And has a massive outline drawing of the original Vespa GTS on the front. Plus a contrasting blue highlight and a two-tone Vespa 70th Anniversary logo on the left sleeve.
Not enough scooter for you? Well, then why not buy yourself a Vespa Young Ceramic Mug, which has some of the most famous scooters produced by the factory? It’ll set you back £11.99. Both items are slightly more if bought direct from the Vespa website rather than UK retailers, but the site also has ladies and children’s sizes.
There’s just one thing that any keen Vespa fan might have spotted already.
Vespa was founded in 1946, with a patent filed on the 23rd April, and the first 13 prototypes appearing in Spring of that year. So technically, the 70th Anniversary was last year, rather than 2017. And the name came from Encrio Piaggio seeing the MP6 prototype redesigned by Corradino D’Ascanio in 1945, after being originally built in 1994.
Still, it’s a nice mug.
