Duo to Ride 3000km on 125cc Scooters

Duo to Ride 3000km on 125cc Scooters

May 14, 2017 By DanThornton Leave a Comment

It seems the world is full of long distance motorcyclists. Not a week goes by without another globe-trotting adventurer setting off on their bike to explore somewhere new. And on a wide range of machinery. So how do you stand out? How about riding 3000km on 125cc scooters?

Duo Clémence Couten and Lisa Aleksenko have already completed an 8-month long world tour and ridden in the 4L Trophy rally raid in the Moroccan desert. But this time, they’re riding from Paris to Casablanca on a paid of Peugeot Django Evasion 125i scooters.

The pair probably won’t be breaking any records on their bikes. They’ve set off with a target of 150 kilometres per day. Which means riding 3000km on 125cc scooters will involve five stages, 3 countries and a total time of six weeks.

The idea is that they’ll explore the countries and cultures from Paris to Casablanca, visiting sites like the Dumay Cognac distillery, having cooking lessons in Bordeaux and Madrid, and meeting people including designers, street artists and Moroccan Youtube star Yassine Jarram. Sounds like it’s a fairly fun and relaxed way to visit new places!

The new Peugeot Django Evasion 125i is based on the 1955 Pegueot S55 scooter. So it has a vintage look, but with modern features like the Easy Motion engine and linked Synchro Braking Concept (SBC). Plus Couten and Aleksenko will probably be glad of the space in the two glove boxes and lockable underseat storage bay. We’d imagine the 12V socket will also come in handy for charing their mobile phones en route.

It follows on from a previous Peugeot Django roadtrip by film makers Samuel Felice and Ambroise Prince. They recently rode from France to Vietnam on a similar pair of scooters. That journey covered 12,000km and 50 cities. It was inspired by two French Navy petty officers who rode their Peugeot S57 Scooters from Saigon to Paris in 1956 after their service finished.

Turns out that scooters have been a long distance travel choice for 60-odd years then.
