The limited edition Ducati Scrambler Italia Independent has been unveiled as part of a tie up with the Italian sunglasses brand. It’s the start of a 3 year deal which also involves a dedicated range of eyewear inspired by the Ducati ‘Land of Joy’. But what that really means for us is that 1077 bikes will be produced with the serial number laser etched on an aluminium plate and featuring the Ducati Scrambler Italia Independent logo on the tank and leather seat label.
Ducati designers worked with the creative team of Italia Independent on the design which includes a black engine with brushed cylinder head fins and visible machining. The black full exhaust comes with a Termignoni silencer, while the low handlebars get aluminium bar end mirrors.
The Scrambler gets a short front mudguard and a nose fairing, also in the same ‘Matte Black’ colour which also covers the rest of the bike, including the side panels of the tank.
The frame and wheels are painted in “Night Copper’ which was designed specifically for this limited edition and looks gorgeous. It’s carried on with the same colour used for the stitching on the leather seat.
The result is a particular mean, moody and sexy Ducati Scrambler. “Lapo Elkann (Italia Independent CEO and Co-founder) and his team of creative designers have brought a breath of fresh air and creativity to Ducati, and we are sure that this will be the start of an exciting partnership,” said Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali.
The Copper Night colour works well on the frame – copper has been used on the custom scene for a while, and it’s nice to see it moving into a larger production motorcycle. And it gives a good alternative to black for the wheels – most other colours don’t really compliment a matt black paintscheme.
In case you’re interested, the sunglasses are apparently a classic and timeless shape in dark black with a rubber surface treatment, and mirrored copper-coloured lenses. The bridge and temple also get a brushed copper effect and they’ve got a ‘Unique Edition For’ logo.
They look pretty cool as sunglasses go. And it’ll be interesting to see whether the collaboration leads to other special editions across the Ducati range – you can imagine the Monster range are feeling a little unloved now that the Scrambler has taken priority as the naked bike to customise. There’s no word on the price of the Ducati Scrambler Italia Independent or the sunglasses as yet.
