Writer and Director Mark Neale first released Faster, the MotoGP documentary narrated by Ewan McGregor back in 2003. Now his latest film, Hitting the Apex, is about to be released at selected UK cinemas from Wednesday, September 2nd. And this time Neale has Brad Pitt lending his voice to the film.
In addition to Faster, Neale also created Faster & Faster (2003) and The Doctor, The Tornado and The Kentucky Kid (2006), before returning with coverage of the introduction of electric motorcycle racing to the Isle of Man in Chagre, Zero Emissions/Maximum Speed, and Fastest. One of his first films also happened to be a profile of one of my favourite authors, William Gibson, so he’s obviously a man of taste.
The one constant in all his films, alongside the stunning cinematography and insights is Valentino Rossi. Faster was filmed in 2001 and 2002, when Rossi first won the 500cc World Championship, and then followed it up with the first MotoGP title in 2002. And now the Italian legend is competing in his 20th season at Wold Championship level as Hitting The Apex is released.
If you can’t make it to the cinema, or fancy watching at home, Hitting The Apex is released on DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital HD on September 7th, 2015. If you plan on ordering it via Amazon, consider using the link below to support Rescogs with a few pennies of commission (It doesn’t effect the price you’ll pay, but will help to cover the costs of running the site). Interestingly, Amazon is advertising a set featuring Faster, Fastest and Hitting The Apex, which seems like a bargain…

Typical myopic, protectionist, nimbyism by Dorna. It’s only a trailer dammit. Might increase interest in the sport. This sucks.
