Official SBK15 superbike racing arriving for mobiles and tablets

Official SBK15 superbike racing arriving for mobiles and tablets

June 3, 2015 By DanThornton Leave a Comment

The official mobile and tablet game of the Superbike World Championship is out now for the Microsoft Lumia and will be released on iOS and Android in late June, 2015.

So for those times when you’re not out riding, and you want to emulate the likes of Jonathan Rea, Tom Sykes, Chaz Davies and Leon Haslam from the comfort of your armchair, you should be sorted.

Apparently SBK14 was downloaded more than 4.5 million times, showing how many of us enjoy a bit of virtual bike racing. And the new version of the game includes all the 2015 season tracks and bikes, which is handy if you’re a fan of the currently dominant English and Welsh riders.

The game includes a Championship mode to let you pick a team and take on the official WSBK stars throughout the course of a season, Quick Race, and Challenge mode to download the best times set by both your friends and WSBK riders to try to beat.

Now there’s also a Time Attack mode to push your riding talents further – plus cross-platform compatibility between Windows and iOS devices means you can challenge more of your mates.

As you can see from the screenshots, and the video embedded below, the graphics look pretty good for your mobile or tablet, and you get dynamic lighting, lifelike sound effects, and apparently the advanced physics and riding model have been improved based on feedback on previous games. Plus if you’re all fingers and thumbs there are 9 different control options to pick from.

So even if you’re not traditional a videogame fan, it sounds like a decent way to kill some time waiting around at the local bike meet, or between races at World Superbikes this year.

When we get a bit of practice in, we’ll have to post up some times and see whether our dreams of a shock WSB debut for a bunch of middle-aged no hopers is unrealistic….
