Draggin Jeans have been making Kevlar-lined jeans since the late 1990s, and I’ve got a pair or two which must be around a decade old by now. The BLKGEN jeans are the latest product to arrive in the UK from down under, and the progress in technology means they look better and should be more comfortable than my antique denim.
Draggin has worked with DuPont Kevlar for a long time and developed a new lining with them, know as Roomoto. It’s soft, breathable, flexible, non-allergenic and thanks to the Kevlar bits, abrasion-resistant. So you get the sort of protection you’d expect from lined jeans, but they’ll draw away heat and sweat, and be more pleasant off the bike than the original attempts to marry protection and style.
It also means that the jeans don’t have any visible panels or external seams – good for looks and reducing any weakness, and you can still buy Draggin CE-approved armour for the knees and hips if you want extra protection.
