If you ever wondered about the cars used as Safety and Medical vehicles for the 2015 MotoGP season, then wonder no more. For the 17th season in a row, BMW is the ‘Official Car of MotoGP’, with the BMW M Division supplying some sporty German cars and the BMW M Award for the best qualifier over the course of the season. Plus the BMW MotoGP Experience gives you a look behind the scenes of each race weekend with Loris Capirossi and Alex Hofmann.

The MotoGP Safety Cars are headed by the new M4 Coupe, with 431bhp thanks to new water injection. The MotoGP car actually tested the system before it ends up in road models in the near future. Remember to point that out the next time some sales rep cuts you up on the motorway.
It’s not the only BMW available though – the BMW M3 and M6 Gran Coupe are also used as Safety Cars with a BMW M5 for the Safety Officer.

The medical teams also get a new toy with the new BMW X5 M, the latest high performance big four wheel drive that you’ll most likely see doing the school run in the posh part of town. It actually puts out more power than the M4, with 423kW compared to 317kW for the lighter Coupe. And the medics also get the use of the BMW M550d xDrive Touring.
Finally there are also two BMW S 1000 RRs used as safety bikes. So hopefully that will give you something to talk about while you’re waiting for races to start…
