Follow our attempt to trade our way from just £5 up to a respectable motorcycle. If you missed the first part, check it out here, where we kicked things off by turning £5 into £15.
Having emulated countless daytime TV shows by picking up something from a an auto jumble and then turning it around for an auction profit it was time to re-invest. £15 is a funny amount to go shopping with, and as the next Kempton event was a little way off I adopted a slightly different approach.
Inspiration came from a quiz show as I decided to phone a friend. Mates always have stuff to shift, even if they don’t realise it. So I arranged for him to put the kettle on and nipped round to see him. Well, his garage, if I’m being honest.
It wasn’t a goldmine, but there were some assorted Kawasaki bits which I thought could be interesting, and I was willing to be talked up to £1 per part. So I left £5 lighter, but with one handlebar from a Kawasaki ZX6R, a Kawasaki ZXR400 tail light, a Kawasaki ZZR600 clutch lever assembly and a pair of Kawasaki ZXR750 remote reservoir pots.
I’ve thrown better stuff away in the past, but with such a low starting point we have to be grateful for everything we can get.
Lady luck appears to be smiling on our project though as within an hour of picking up our bag of Kawasaki swag, we’d managed to shift the pair of remote reservoir pots on eBay for a Buy It Now price for £9.99. That’s our stake recouped, plus a small amount more into the kitty.
So from a £5, we’re now up to a total of about £20, with a few Kawasaki bits still to sell. Or if it all goes pear-shaped, the start of a project!
