In case you were wondering what became of the non-running MZ125 that I found for sale in a local front garden when I’d only popped to get milk, it turns out there’s a happy and interesting outcome.
Having advertised the MZ, I had several biters. Not only that but the first bloke to come and see the bike took it off my hands! That was the first result.
I do love a happy ending, and this is where the tale of the MZ took on a heartwarming twist. It turns out that like the MZ, the new owner also originated from behind the Berlin Wall. But unlike the 1989 MZ125, he’s only been here for five years. The reason he was drawn to my advert is because the bike is exactly the same as his first bike in Poland in that historical year.
Although his story touched my soul, I did still cash in on his emotion – within 5 minutes he’d given me the full asking price and fitted the MZ into his people carrier. But the feel good vibe didn’t stop there – a few hours later he texted me to say he’d got it running! So it looks like this 1989 MZ125 has got a well-deserved happy ending.
