We’ve all put things down and forgotten about them. Usually it’s your keys, or an MOT certificate. But I’ve just remembered I’ve got a motorbike I completely forgot about!
Anyone else remember The Mothership?

It last crossed my mind more than 6 months ago, when I publicly wondered what to do with the 拢500 Honda CBR1000FP I bought back in 2008. The dash had stopped at 99,657, the MOT paperwork at 97,000, and the speedo never worked. But it lasted through two years as my daily transport, and I never even tried selling it – it was that bad by the end.

The last outing was a Santa Pod run of 11.33@124mph. Followed by 5 minutes on full throttle which failed to kill it.

When I last wrote about it in September I’d discovered the key – which had been left in it for the past couple of years. And yet I still can’t bring myself to breaking it, assuming anyone fancies parts of 100,000+ mileage. It’s a metallic memory machine, and I had some good times on that saddle.

One suggestion last time was donating it to a motorcycle maintenance course, which might teach them some lessons about the futility of spending time and effort on an old knacker. Besides that I’m stumped – any ideas?
Call me peverse ( and many do :)) but that Santa Pod reference gives me an idea …….
