A.Kahn custom built by Lauge Jensen

A.Kahn custom built by Lauge Jensen

The Lauge Jensen A.Kahn model is a bit of a break from our normal coverage of bargain secondhand finds and shed-built creations, but it’s interesting to see nonetheless. It’s a collaboration between Bradford-based ‘automotive fashion house’ A.Kahn Design, who usually specialise in custom work on exotic supercars and Danish custom builders Lauge Jensen.

We don’t have much in the way of tech details beyond the fact that every Lauge Jensen bike apparently uses the same chassis and engine, which unsurprisingly for a custom cruiser, happens to be a V-Twin. It’s got a 0-60mph of less than 4 seconds, a claimed top speed somewhere above 160mph, and it complies with European emission standards.

Only 10 examples of this design are being built – prices for Lauge Jensen bikes start at £28,600 excluding VAT, and if you want a custom example, you’re looking at £35,000 before VAT is added. Then again, this is one of those times where if you have to ask the price, you probably can’t afford it.

It’s not going to be to everyone’s taste, and it’s not cheap. But it’s interesting to see what goes into a custom selling for more than £25,000. And you’re certainly unlikely to bump into someone else with one at your local bike meet.

And that’s cheap compared to one of Lauge Jensen’s previous creations. The Goldfinger featured the same engine and chassis, but to create what is probably the world’s most expensive bike, all 859 parts were gold-plated by hand. It also featured 250 small diamonds to result in a sale of $850,000 to a private buyer!
