It appears someone at Avon Tyres might be a fan of Rescogs.com. You might have seen the great report and video from the Castle Combe launch of the Avon Storm 3D X-M tyres by Richard Ashcroft, but Richard’s reaction has also been quoted in Avon’s official press release about the day.
Not only is it headlined ‘Avon Tyres new Storm X-M tyres receive high marks from journalists’, but Richard is also quoted alongside the likes of MCN’s Jon Urry, Fast Bikes Simon Roots, SuperBike’s Alan Dowds, and Bike’s Mike Armitage.
As the press release states:
Richard Ashcroft, Website Contributor for Rescogs.com: “I used Avon’s test bike to experience the 3D Storm X-Ms. I thought I’d take it easy on these touring tyres, but after getting overtaken by people on the same tyre, I moved it up a gear. The Storm X-Ms took it and I felt firmly attached to the track. I am going to get a pair of these for my own Honda Blackbird. With a tyre life of over 10,000 miles they sound good to me!”
Not bad to be alongside the 58-year-old MCN considering we’ve only been around a few months. Although it may just be that Richard is a lot more respectable than Scottie and Dan.

Seeing as Avon have been so nice, we might as well repeat some of the pertinent rubber information:
The Avon Storm 3D X-M are the latest sports touring tyres made in Britain for the hypersport market. They feature interlocking three-dimensional points hidden in the tyre’s grooves to improve stability, grip and warm-up times while limiting tread flex. Plus the single and multi-compound silica-rich tread enhances wet grip.
What that means is you get great handling and stability alongside higher mileage, so they’re great tyres for the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa, Kawasaki GTR1400 and Kawasaki ZZR1400, but can also transform the performance of older models such as BMW’s K1300 series and Honda’s Super Blackbird.
The Avon Storm 3D X-M is available now in sizes 120/70-ZR17 front and 180/55-ZR17 or 190/50-ZR17 rears. For more info, visit www.avonmotorcycle.com.
