The best tyre choice in racing history?

The best tyre choice in racing history?

September 8, 2011 By DanThornton 3 Comments

I’ve just been trying to think of a great video to share, and this one sprang straight to mind. Back in 2000, German 250cc rider Ralf Waldmann made one the greatest tyre choice decisions in the history of racing at Donington.

It’s no wonder people still think of him as one of the best riders to never win a championship.

This the one you’re referring to grandad? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkumPWYFEvI – complete with excitable Japanese commentators.

I’ll agree that’s a pretty epic race, and the fact that Lawson was able to win by so much on the Cagiva is amazing – but Ralf timed the last lap drama far better, rather than just vanishing into the distance with some of the race left.

      So ner.
